We wonder how KeNikko Bar and Resto has become a happy place for most local people in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. The beer and the drinks are the same just about anywhere. But maybe well we can guess, the atmosphere and the vibe of the place makes it eerily familiar. Kenikko Bar and Resto is like your backyard hideout where you and your friends exchange talks and banter about while having pulotan and some beer.

When you arrive and you did not recognize a familiar face that anonymity will surely be shattered as a few minutes later somebody would nod at you like an acquaintance or a friend who just arrived or they were there already but you did not notice them immediately. It is mostly open space so its just about grabbing a chair and finding your space or trying to elbow your way around. This is the only place where you welcome the sight of other people having good time.

Unlike any other Bar and Resto, KeNikko has only a small space inside or the interior which has a bar and also air-conditioned but most people prefer the outdoors. And there is no live band or loud speakers outside. It is just a 32 inch tv playing some basketball game or something but nobody seem to watch. But there is absolutely no need to add anything other than what it currently is. We fear if they do, it will drive the regulars out.

In the kitchen one can notice a lot of grilling and cooking of course. And yes, we can vouch that they have one of the best food in town especially pulotan. Not just pulotan as all around everybody is also having dinner with the rice orders while waiting for the beer buckets order that will add to the animated conversations later.
Their best seller is the Baby Back Ribs but it was not available when we visit so we ordered Sashimi Tuna, Chopsuey, Pork Sisig, and Sizzling Seafood.

There are a few foreigners checking out the place but not as much as the locals. Somedays it is jampacked to the brim meaning full house, to the delight of the nearby Resto and Bar which share in the spoils.

Kenikko is located at J&D Plaza at Bgy. San Pedro in the City Center which has a very wide space for parking and conveniently located at a short distance from the national highway so not as dusty or noisy from the cars passing by.

On a second note the reason it is popular is maybe the wide parking space. Hmmm or maybe it just becomes that happy place you keep on coming back because it makes you happy. And you share that same feeling with many other people.
(Photos were taken after they open so as to avoid the crowd).
