We are pretty excited with the announcement of the organizers of IRONMAN 70.3 that the triathlon event testing human endurance and skill is happening in Puerto Princesa City, the capital of the best island in the world, Palawan. This was also announced by the Local Government Unit through Mayor Lucilo Bayron.

The City in the Forest or the City of the Living God will host the event on November 13, 2022. The race will involve athletes doing Swimming in the open ocean, Bike in the rolling countryside and Running. IRONMAN is being held in over 170+ select locations worldwide.

The course will start at the single-loop 1.9km swim at the Puerto Princesa Baywalk Park. This will be followed by biking on the three-loop 90km distance that will take them to the lush rainforests and scenic views of the southern part of Puerto Princesa to the Iwahig Bridge.

And finally they will run the two-loop 21 kilometers heading south and the City Center towards the Ramon V. Mitra Jr. Sports Complex oval track.

This will surely serve as one of the biggest accomplishments in terms of hosting large scale events in the City and put Puerto Princesa on the map on locations that can accommodate major sporting events. Other areas in the Philippines who will have their IRONMAN 70.3 Events are in Lapu Lapu in Cebu and Davao City. 5150 Triathlon Series are also scheduled to be held in Bohol, Davao and Subic Bay.
There were a lot of positive feedback on the pre-pandemic hosting of IRONMAN in Cebu as it was jam-packed with tourists and almost all accommodations were fully booked with athletes and aficionados coming from all over the world.
