Busuanga, Palawan – In a tense moment earlier today, a Philippine Airlines aircraft overshot the runway at Francisco B. Reyes Airport in Busuanga, Palawan. The incident involved flight PR2680, a Dash 8-Q400 NG carrying 53 passengers and 4 crew members, arriving from Mactan, Cebu.
The airplane, which touched down at 2:51 PM local time, exceeded the runway’s end during landing. Fortunately, all onboard were swiftly evacuated without any reported injuries, according to PAL officials. The airline confirmed that by 3:40 PM, everyone had safely disembarked from the aircraft.
Inclement weather, including heavy rainfall, was reported at the time of the incident, exacerbating runway conditions. The aircraft’s wheels reportedly slipped on the wet surface as it approached the end of the runway.
PAL has issued apologies to affected passengers and assured them of their commitment to safety. “We extend our apologies to the passengers of this flight and to all other flights affected by this incident,” PAL stated.
