Puerto Princesa City, in the heart of Palawan, is gearing up to host the Subaraw Biodiversity Festival 2023, a celebration of the remarkable natural heritage and rich cultural tapestry that defines this enchanting region. From November 3rd to November 19th, visitors from around the world will converge upon this unique destination to experience a kaleidoscope of flora, fauna, cultural diversity, sporting events, fairs, environmental symposiums, various biodiversity activities, entertainment events, etc. like no other.
The word Subaraw comes from the words, suba (river) and taraw (limestone cliff) and the Subaraw Festival is celebrated every November 11th, which is also the day the Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR) became one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. The PPUR has long been celebrated as a hotspot of biodiversity, teeming with lush rainforests, crystal-clear waters, and a treasure trove of endemic species. The Subaraw Biodiversity Festival is a testament to the community’s dedication to conserving their natural wonders and their determination to share their love for the environment with the world.
This year the City Government of Puerto Princesa thru the leadership of Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron, Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park Management and PPUR Festival Partners Foundation, Inc. has the following activities lined up from November 3-19, 2023. Here goes:
