If you are an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) and you manage to tag along your foreign friend, relatives or even acquaintances to the Philippines, then you are entitled to a reward.

This is according to Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco as she launch “Bisita, Be my Guest Program” in an effort to boost tourism in the Philippines.

According to the latest census in 2020, there is an estimated 1.77 Million Filipinos working outside the country. That means almost 2 out of every 10 Filipinos. They are sending home much needed dollars to keep the economy afloat. This time they are encouraged to at least bring along one or two companions when going back to the country.

Secretary Frasco said that this is intended to invite and benefit OFWs that bring home a relative or a friend to the Philippines, with raffle prizes, discounts, and privilege for them as they tour around the country.

It would appear that there is a confusion with the slogan, “Bisita, Be my Guest Program” that the Secretary had to clarify saying that this is under review and, “this is not the new tourism slogan of the Philippines as some has misrepresented. Rather, this is a guest incentive program.”

Frasco who assumes her post as DOT Secretary during the time of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in her letter express that, “I welcome all your comments and opinions, and I am learning from it. I value your voice because after all, we are all stakeholders in the success of tourism and of our country.”
