Plan your 2023 Holidays as Malacañang Issues Official List

Humans are optimist by nature and we are filled with optimism for the year 2023. If the years since the pandemic have been annus horribilis (horrible year), the next years will surely be annus mirabilis (wonderful year). We are very excited as we figure out our plans for travel here and abroad sans pandemic worries.

Proclamation No. 42 list all the National Regular and Special (non-working) Holidays. Also below listed are the Long Weekends for 2023.

Regular Holidays for 2023 are as follows:

January 1 (Sunday) – New Year’s Day

April 9 (Sunday) – Draw ng Kagitingan

April 6 (Thursday) – Maundy Thursday

April 7 (Friday) – Good Friday

May 1 (Monday) – Labor Day

June 12 (Monday) – Independence Day

August 28 (Monday) – National Heroes Day

November 30 (Thursday) – Bonifacio Day

December 25 (Monday) – Christmas Day

December 30 (Saturday) – Rizal Day

Special Non-working Holidays in 2023 are as follows:

February 25 (Saturday) – EDSA People Power Revolution Anniversay

April 8 (Saturday) – Black Saturday

August 21 (Monday) – Ninoy Aquino Day

November 1 (Wednesday) – All Saints’ Day

December 8 (Friday) – Feast of the Immaculate Concepcion of Mary

December 31 (Sunday) – Last Day of the Year

Additional Special Non-Working Holidays:

November 2 (Thursday) – All Souls’ Day

The proclamation declaring national holidays for the observance of the Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha will be issued after the approximate dates of the Islamic holidays have been determined, in accordance with the Islamic calendar (Hijra) or the lunar calendar, or upon Islamic astronomical calculations, whichever is possible or convenient. The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos will recommend the actual dates on which these holidays shall respectively fall. The President will issue separate proclamations declaring national holidays for the observance of these holidays.

Estimated dates of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha

April 22 (Saturday) – Eid al-Fitr or the end of the month of Ramadan

June 29 (Thursday) – Eid al-Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice

April 29-May 1 (Saturday to Monday) – Labor Day

June 10-12 (Saturday to Monday) – Independence Day

August 26-28 (Saturday to Monday) – National Heroes Day

December 8-10 (Friday to Sunday) – Feast of the Immaculate Concepcion

December 23-25 (Saturday to Monday) – Christmas
