If you live in a country where three out of the 25 Best Islands in the World is located then definitely you are in Paradise. And that is evident from the many people coming from distant places, with the Philippines in sight, just to witness the magnificence that nature and its people bring.

Well usually it would be self-serving if we declare our own place as paradise. The recognition this time comes from the New York-based magazine Travel + Leisure based on a scoring system where certain parameters from its readers are followed.

Boracay made it to the top ten as the ninth Best Island in the World with a score of 90.89. Locals and foreigners alike consider Boracay as the go to place or the top destination in the Philippines. After the lockdown and closure, it is on its path to resurgence with its beaches now gleaming pure and unspoiled.

This was closely followed by Palawan at the 11th place at a close score of 90.81. Palawan is still relatively undiscovered and remains a very exciting nature destination with the whole island from north to south filled with awesome wonders.

Cebu is not far behind at the 16th spot. The Island is a host to cultural destinations, nature dives, and a bustling metropolis next only to Manila.

There are a lot of contenders and we believe if the list continue up to 50, a lot of the 7,100 islands in the Philippines may may be able to clinch a spot too.

Making it to the top of the Best List is Ischia which is located in Italy. A popular beach destination in Europe and the West. And not far behind in second place is Maldives, of course. On the third spot is Bali which is the best island in Southeast Asia in the list with Phuket in Thailand making it the 7th. Overall we cannot protest. Everyone is on their deserved spot.

The basis for the ranking was the readers scorecards “weighing in on travel experiences around the globe — to share their opinions on the top cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Readers rated islands according to their activities and sights, natural attractions and beaches, food, friendliness, and overall value.”

It was in 2020 when Palawan reclaimed the top spot in the same magazine after getting the most number of votes from the magazine’s readers. 

Travel + Leisure described Palawan then as “dramatic at sea level, with mountains rising directly from the ocean palm-edged beaches.”
