Data from the Department of Tourism show a very positive development on the part of luring foreign visitors to Philippine shores. So far, more than 313,050 foreigners or international travelers have arrived to answer the call of “Its more Fun in the Philippines”.

In a press briefing dubbed Laging Handa, Tourism Secretary Bernadetter Romulo-Puyat expressed her delight that accordingly “From Feb. 10 to April 25, we surpassed the 300,000 mark. We received about 313,050 international arrivals,”

United States was the first among the list of foreign arrivals followed by Canada and South Korea. But the numbers are still a far cry from the 8.26 million tourist which arrived pre-pandemic in 2019.

Nevertheless, nobody is complaining including the Tourism Secretary Puyat as it is an indication of things getting back to normal.

It was February 10, that the Philippines admit Foreign Nationals in the country who do not require a visa and April 1 was when the borders were opened to all nationalities.

But we are happy with the

current levels,” Ms. Puyat said.

“We are happy that we are slowly

getting back to normal. But we still

really have to follow minimum health

and safety protocols,” she added.

On Feb. 10, the Philippines started

admitting nationals who do not

require a visa to enter the Philippines.

Starting April 1, borders were

opened to all nationalities.

Everyone is optimistic and this could go a long way towards normalization.
