Hold on to your seats, Palawan! The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has reported another earthquake in our picturesque paradise. This time, Narra town felt a bit of a jiggle at exactly 5:56 PM on Wednesday, June 26. The tremor registered a magnitude of 2.1 and occurred at a depth of 33 kilometers, precisely located at 08.64°N, 118.63°E – 73 km south-southeast of Narra.

Now, before you start imagining scenes from a disaster movie, let’s put things into perspective. A magnitude 2.1 earthquake is more like a gentle nudge from Mother Earth than a full-blown shake. In fact, most folks in Narra probably didn’t even feel it! As Engr. Robert Esplida from PHIVOLCS-DOST Palawan explained in previous interviews, these mild quakes are often only detectable by their sensitive instruments.
