Pukaway Cave in Coron proves that a lot is still undiscovered in Paradise

As if limestone cliffs, fine sand beaches, clear waters, island lakes, powdery fine sand etc etc are not characteristics enough to merit attention to get the title of paradise, Coron got itself another ace out of its sleeve.

It’s called “Pukaway cave” which is hidden alongside popular destinations of Kayangan and Barracuda Lake which are popular inland lakes of Coron Island which is just across the Coron town proper. Both Kayangan lake and Barracuda lake are popular destinations and earned its own distinction and mystique of sorts.

We cannot compare it to the Puerto Princesa underground river but we have to say, Pukaway deserve its own place in the destination books.

The way is a rugged path and narrow and quite challenging that is why care should be taken in traversing along the edges of the stone cliff.

At the end of the arduous task is found in this staircase going down towards the big reveal.

One can of course paddle and roam around and enjoy the majesticity of the cavern and be mesmerized in the enthrallment.

Summer is calling and it’s beckoning us to visit Coron. One more reason to go there.

The cave is currently not accessible to the public at the moment as the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development filed cases for its destruction just this October 6, 2023 against persons for the conduct of activities inside the cave without proper permits and in violation of applicable laws.
